State and Local Tax

Dover Dixon Horne's state and local tax (SALT) team of Michael Parker, Matthew Boch, and T.J. Lawhon is widely recognized for its excellence and leadership in both Arkansas and multistate state and local tax matters.

Within Arkansas, Dover Dixon Horne attorneys routinely advise and represent businesses on sales and use tax, income tax, property tax, and miscellaneous tax issues, from planning and compliance, through audits and administrative appeals, and in litigation in the Arkansas courts. The DDH SALT team also is closely involved in tax policy work, both at the administrative level, where the team includes current and past chairs of the Arkansas Tax Advisory Council, as well as with legislation when the General Assembly is in session. (To stay up to date on Arkansas tax matters, subscribe to our Arkansas Tax & Incentives Update blog.)

On a multistate basis the DDH SALT team advises and represents companies in managing their state and local tax risks. Areas of advice and representation include nexus, taxability of emerging business models, voluntary disclosures, and surveys and analysis of technical tax issues. The team is actively involved with the ABA Tax Section SALT Executive Committee, the Independent SALT Alliance (ISA), the Institute for Professionals in Taxation (IPT), and the Council on State Taxation (COST).
